AirFire is part of the Threat Characterization and Management Program in the USDA Forest Service's Pacific Northwest Research Station. We are an applied research team focused on understanding how the atmosphere interacts with wildland fire. Our projects address issues related to

We are committed to delivering high quality science and science-based tools to the public that funds us and to the land management community. We use state of the art science and technology to do this, pushing the limits of Forest Service capabilities. We strive to maintain a high standard for our research and tools, including publications in peer-review journals, continuous engagement with users to improve our tools, and honest, open acknowledgement of the limitations and uncertainties of our science.
